How to Soundproof your Floor

Soundproofing your floor is the simplest and most cost effective way to prevent noise from moving to the rooms below. You can block television, talking, and other airborne noises, as well as transmission noises that come from running, walking, dropping, and kids playing on the floor. Floor soundproofing should be installed during initial construction, but it can also be put in after your sub floor is down.

Floor Soundproofing Example

Floor soundproofing should be installed during initial construction, but it can also be put in after your sub floor is down.

Installation of a floor soundproofing system during construction is the most effective sound barrier. Opening the floors and installing our EcoSilent underlayment, Sound Barrier, and Quiet Insul between the joist, and Clip System below floor joist, is the best method.

If your sub floor is already installed, but you want to soundproof the floor, installing our EcoSilent underlayment system along with our Sound Barrier underneath your finished floor, will reduce both airborne and transmission noise.

We also have soundproofing carpet underlayment called Carpet Walk, to block noise when you have a carpet floor!

These are the most common procedures for existing ceiling soundproofing, but there are other procedures available, call for more details.
