ThunderTile - T-Bar Acoustic Panels

ThunderTiles combine high density 6lb glass wool with ½” gypsum board. The visible face features a decorative tissue with a painted latex finish. The acoustic tile is fully encapsulated in micromesh and edges are sealed to eliminate dusting during handling.
Designed to fit in standard T-bar ceilings. ThunderTile sizes are 24” x 24” (60cm x 60cm) and 24” x 48” (60cm x 121cm). Each size is available in a choice of flush-mount (trim edges) or drop-down (reveal edges) designs.
Superior acoustic performance coupled with exceptional sound blocking make the ThunderTile an ideal choice for controlling noise between offices, class rooms and entertainment areas and for controlling excessive ambiance which can affect speech intelligibility.
ThunderTiles have been independently tested for fire and smoke development to meet the rigorous ASTM E84 for use in the United States and CAN-UL S102 for use in Canada.

ThunderTiles are premium acoustic ceiling panels specifically designed for suspended T-bar ceiling systems. Manufactured using a high-density fiberglass core bonded with durable gypsum, these ceiling tiles effectively reduce airborne sound, control reverberation, and improve speech intelligibility in a wide variety of environments.

Unlike standard ceiling panels, ThunderTiles offer exceptional acoustic performance while maintaining an attractive architectural appearance. Their paintable finish, fire-rated construction, and compatibility with standard ceiling grids make them an excellent solution for both new construction and renovation projects.

Florida Soundproofing works closely with property owners, architects, builders, and facility managers to recommend the ideal ThunderTile configuration based on your project’s acoustic requirements and building design.

Features & Benefits

Dual-Core Construction

Dual‑core construction (glass wool + gypsum)
A 6 lb/ft³ glass‑wool core absorbs echo while the ½‑inch gypsum face blocks noise, so one panel both quiets the room and prevents sound from leaking to adjacent spaces.

Unlike traditional ceiling tiles that only absorb sound, ThunderTiles combine a dense fiberglass core with gypsum facing to reduce both reflected noise and sound transmission. This advanced construction creates a quieter environment while helping prevent conversations and other unwanted sounds from traveling into neighboring rooms.

High Acoustic Performance

(NRC 0.95, CAC 46)
Lab‑verified ratings translate into sharper speech intelligibility and greater speech privacy between offices, classrooms, or entertainment areas.

With an NRC rating of approximately 0.95 and CAC performance around 46, ThunderTiles deliver exceptional acoustic control suitable for offices, classrooms, conference rooms, healthcare facilities, call centers, and recording environments where speech clarity and privacy are essential.

Drop-in T-bar sizing with class A fire rating

Tiles fit standard 24 × 24 in. or 24 × 48 in. grids for fast retrofits, stay rigid in humid environments without sagging, and meet ASTM E84 / CAN‑UL S102 safety codes—all while offering a bright, paintable white finish that reflects light.

The lightweight drop-in installation allows ThunderTiles to integrate easily into existing suspended ceiling systems, reducing installation time while minimizing disruption to occupied buildings.
